Employer Engagement Officer

We are seeking an experienced Employer Engagement Officer to join our team at Mencap. As an Employer Engagement Officer, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining relationships with employers to secure work placements and jobs for our young learners with Learning disabilities and/or Autism in the Kingston area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with employers from various industries and sectors to secure work placements and negotiate paid employment for our supported interns.
  • Oversee the work of our supported interns, ensuring that placements progress and learners become independent, eventually moving into paid work.
  • Identify suitable pathways and work-related opportunities for learners and develop and nurture stakeholder and partnership relationships to generate a consistent flow of employment opportunities.
  • Manage job coaches and sustain rapport with key employers by making periodic visits, exploring specific needs, and anticipating new opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and maintain accurate and up-to-date records using IT-based systems.
  • Good interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with learners, employers, teaching professionals, and parents/carers.
  • Experience in employer engagement and marketing is ideal, as creating work opportunities for the people we support is a critical aspect of this role.
