Job Title: Senior Site Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Site Engineer to join our team at John Sisk and Son. As a Senior Site Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the engineering function, coordinating with the line manager, and providing engineering leadership for your respective project(s).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the engineering team, ensuring that site and graduate engineers take responsibility for the management of survey equipment.
  • Ensure that the engineering team completes as-built surveys for key elements, understands key tolerances, and can analyze details across a number of interfaces to highlight potential problems.
  • Complete an individual daily diary, review and create Inspection & Test Plans, and display advanced knowledge of key packages such as concrete, drainage, steelwork, and brickwork.
  • Control the components of the SISK Non Conformance procedure, create and close out Non-Conformances, and understand the cost of defects and remedial works.
  • Issue "Permits to break ground," review and create method statements and risk assessments, and identify where information is missing.
  • Undertake the role of the Temporary Works Co-ordinator and ensure the Sisk Temporary Works procedures are implemented for both direct and subcontracted works.
  • Provide information to the project planner to allow programmes to be updated or update them personally, assist and lead site and graduate engineers, demonstrating best practice at all times.
  • Be fully aware of the locations of existing and proposed services, consistently stop site works where they believe person(s) are at risk from a health and safety perspective, and work collaboratively with other SISK and subcontractors engineers.
  • Develop consents schedules, understand the key parties, and take responsibility for ground validation reports to fulfill SISK planning obligations.
  • Develop the project logistics plan, have input into establishing the programme to completion, and understand outputs for various trades, highlighting where trades are falling behind programme or under-resourced.
  • Point of contact for technical, temporary works, and lifting operations audits, responsible for ensuring that all actions are closed within a suitable timeframe.
  • Be a key member of the project management team in the delivery of Health, Safety, and Environmental presentations, provide input on the content of presentations, and assist the project design manager in the design approvals process and establish benchmarks and samples.
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced engineers working on their site, able to draft, monitor, and update short-term programmes.
Experience & Skills:
  • Fully competent in understanding the dangers of underground services and the risk control procedures required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Competent in the use of digital information systems i.e. A-Site, Viewpoint for ProjectsTM etc.
  • Significant experience in the design management process.
Qualifications / Training:
  • Managing Safety in Construction training.
  • First Aid.
  • Service avoidance course.
  • Possibly B.Eng/ M.Eng.
  • Temporary Works Co-ordinator training.
  • Lifting Operations basic awareness course.
  • A61 CPCS Lifting Operations Appointed Persons course.
  • Working towards professional status, ICE, CIOB etc.
