This position offers a unique opportunity to become part of an emerging renewable chemicals enterprise that has established the UK's first bio-refinery. Celtic Renewables is on a growth trajectory, aiming to significantly reduce carbon emissions by expanding its network of bio-refineries worldwide.
Position Overview:
The role of the Analytical Laboratory Technician is a permanent position located at Caledon Green, Grangemouth. In this capacity, you will collaborate closely with both the laboratory and production teams to facilitate all analytical processes within the manufacturing framework, contributing to the company's vision of becoming the global leader in ABE fermentation as a sustainable industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough analysis of samples related to biological processes, raw materials, bulk deliveries, cleaning-in-place (CIP) samples, water systems, and finished products, adhering to GLP, GMP, health and safety standards, as well as environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel and process operators to ensure the seamless operation of processes, meeting all deadlines and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Analyze and report data and trends to relevant stakeholders.
- Review documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), risk assessments (RAs), and control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH), to ensure compliance and safe working practices.
- Maintain and organize relevant data in accordance with company standards.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail and uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization within the laboratory.
- Ensure that all laboratory instruments are properly maintained.
- Manage chemical and consumable inventory within the laboratory.
- Demonstrate behaviors that align with the company's core values.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A scientific background with relevant experience in an analytical laboratory or industrial fermentation/distillation setting.
- Familiarity with laboratory instruments such as HPLC, GC, and Karl Fischer analysis.
- Experience in method development and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team, delivering high standards in GLP, GMP, quality, health and safety, regulatory compliance, and customer service.
- Ability to perform under pressure and deliver timely results.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience with microbiological techniques, including aseptic techniques, sampling, and agar plating, is desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Work Schedule:
- Week 1: 7am to 7pm, Monday to Wednesday
- Week 2: 7am to 7pm, Wednesday to Friday
