Manager of Tax Compliance for Alternative Funds

Key Responsibilities:The Alternative Funds Tax division at Grant Thornton specializes in providing tax advisory, compliance, and transaction services to alternative investment funds and their management teams across various asset classes, including private equity, venture capital, private debt, hedge funds, real estate, infrastructure, and digital assets. Our clientele encompasses a wide range of the asset management industry, catering to traditional asset managers, financial institutions, private equity firms, alternative investors, real estate businesses, wealth management firms, hedge funds, pension funds, and global institutional investors.
We are on a growth trajectory and are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Manager with robust UK tax compliance expertise to join our London team. The role is primarily focused on compliance but will also encompass domestic and international structuring, transactions, and advisory initiatives.
As a Manager in the Alternative Funds Tax team, your responsibilities will include:
- Engaging directly with clients, collaborating with UK and international asset managers to oversee their tax compliance duties.
- Ensuring a seamless compliance experience for clients, addressing operational aspects such as financial management, billing, and accounts receivable.
- Building and maintaining client relationships while delivering solutions for independent advisory projects.
- Producing high-quality deliverables for clients while enhancing your understanding of alternative investment management and pertinent tax matters.
- Contributing to business growth by identifying opportunities within existing client accounts and acquiring new business.
- Utilizing the firm's training and development resources to expand your technical and commercial capabilities.
- Serving as a mentor for junior team members, aiding in their professional development and skill enhancement.
- Participating in a high-performing, specialized financial services team.
Essential Qualifications:
To qualify for the Manager position, candidates should possess:
- A professional qualification (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent).
- Confidence in managing a diverse client portfolio.
Preferred Skills:
It would be advantageous if candidates also have:
- Strong technical tax knowledge and a keen interest in the asset management industry.
- A blend of corporate and partnership tax compliance experience.
- A proven history of leading projects with an emphasis on accountability, quality, and timely execution.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with relevant software applications.
- Experience in mentoring and developing junior staff.
