Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Business Partner to join our Capital Projects team at the University of Sussex. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for providing financial management and control of a portfolio of capital projects.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial reporting and management information to project steering groups and University committees.
  • Be a key contact on all project finance matters for Directors of Professional Services, Senior Responsible Officers, University Project Executives, and Project Managers.
  • Work collaboratively with senior estates and IT management, project teams, and stakeholders across the University, offering financial support and services on the Capital Programme.

Requirements:

  • A professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent) or relevant working experience.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with the capital projects team, finance management, and project stakeholders of all levels on a broad range of financial matters.
  • Experience of delivering financial support and services in relation to capital projects and programmes.
About Our Division

The Finance Division is led by the Chief Finance Officer who reports directly to the Vice Chancellor. We employ around 80 staff who provide high-quality financial and commercial services that support both the day-to-day running of our schools and services, as well as the development and delivery of the University's strategic aims.

We maintain efficient and effective services, systems, and processes, assist in identifying and exploiting commercial and strategic opportunities, manage financial risk, and improve 'spending power' through negotiation of favourable commercial terms.

We work hard to equip staff across the University with financial capability and confidence to ensure that the University makes the best use of resources for our students and research partners.
