About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Risk Modeller to join our team at JP Morgan Chase Bank, National Association. As a key member of our Environmental and Social (E&S) Risk team, you will play a critical role in maintaining the strength and resilience of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement an in-house analytical approach to identify and assess environmental risks, including climate-related topics and transmission channels to the financial sector.
  • Determine and establish metrics for assessing environmental risk at the portfolio, client, and asset levels, including direct and indirect impacts through operations and supply chain.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, assess, and select relevant data vendors for environmental risk-related scenario analysis.
  • Engage with stakeholders to provide effective challenge on E&S matters and participate in responding to global E&S related regulations.
  • Contribute to research on E&S issues and thematic topics affecting our firm and clients, including biodiversity and supply chain issues.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in environmental and/or climate modelling, including model evaluation and development, ideally applied to business cases.
  • Excellent analytical skills and comfort working with large datasets.
  • Proficient with coding (Python) and geospatial analysis.
  • Strong academic background in a highly quantitative discipline, including engineering, physics, geography, or maths.
  • Understanding of the current voluntary and regulatory landscape for environmental topics, including nature, as it relates to the financial sector.
  • Knowledge of environmental risks and transmission channels through which these can manifest for financial institutions.
  • Highly effective in narrating analytical output to stakeholders, with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
