Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Team Leader to join our team at One Dalkeith. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of our kitchen and café, ensuring that we deliver top-quality food and drinks to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the kitchen and café operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Supervise and train a team of trainee cooks and front-of-house volunteers to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to provide excellent customer service.
  • Work closely with our business manager to create a changing seasonal menu that is both profitable and appealing to our customers.
  • Ensure that all health and hygiene records are up-to-date and that all risk assessments and health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Mentor and support our members who are keen to learn on the job, providing guidance and feedback to help them develop their culinary skills.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the café, including the display of food and drinks.
  • Work collaboratively with our team to ensure that we deliver excellent customer service and maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere in the café.
Requirements:
  • Experience in working in a professional kitchen environment.
  • A flair for creative cooking and culinary skills.
  • Coaching skills to train and mentor members who volunteer in the café.
  • Elementary food hygiene certificate.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Barista skills a bonus, although training can be given.
  • Customer service skills.
