About the Role

Carpenters Group is seeking an experienced Commercial Legal Counsel to join our team as a Motorbike and E-Scooter Claims Specialist. As a key member of our Commercial Litigation Team, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of motorbike, moped, push bike, and e-scooter Fast Track/MOJ RTA cases through all stages of the investigation and litigation process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Claims Handling: Deliver robust quality claims handling, with a key focus on client outcomes, to proactively litigate and generate fee income, and contribute to the general success of the business.
  • Liability and Quantum: Assess liability and quantum, including reviewing medical reports, researching, and obtaining relevant case law, drafting schedules of special damages, and assessing suitable awards for compensation.
  • Settlements and Advice: Take a practical but commercial approach to settlements and advise clients as to litigation/cost risks.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise appropriately and timely with sources, medical agencies, experts, third-party insurers, and other relevant parties to ensure that cases are proactively progressed.
  • Court Hearings: Attend court hearings to make representations in respect of the claim before the judiciary, and instruct Barristers where necessary.
  • Requirements: The successful candidate must be a qualified Solicitor, Member/Fellow of CILEX, or an experienced employment law legal advisor/paralegal with experience in RTA claims handling.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Possess a solid working knowledge of the CPR, legislation, and relevant case law, and be competent in working with a case management system and good knowledge of MS Office.
  • Client Focus: Focus on delivering quality service to clients and the firm, and be able to compile and analyze data and act according to the results.
