The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the timely call off and placement of purchase orders for raw materials and packaging, ensuring alignment with the production schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • **Raw Material Procurement**: Manage the call off of necessary raw materials and packaging items according to the production plan while adhering to established inventory policies. Create purchase orders in SAP with approved suppliers.
  • **Shortage Identification**: Proactively identify any material shortages and expedite procurement at minimal cost to meet production requirements, escalating issues as necessary.
  • **Order Status Monitoring**: Track order statuses and resolve any issues with suppliers, including adjustments to order quantities and timelines.
  • **Inventory Management**: Analyze inventory levels, assist with cycle counting, and establish safety stock levels to mitigate supply risks while maintaining cost efficiency.
  • **Continuous Improvement Initiatives**: Drive improvements in operational standards by applying problem-solving methodologies and best practices.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • A minimum of 2nd level academic qualifications (GCSEs or equivalent) with a focus on Mathematics and English.
  • Strong numerical skills for recording, interpreting, and analyzing key process data.

Desirable

  • Experience with SAP systems is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • At least 6 months of experience in a procurement or purchasing role within a manufacturing context.
