Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Department of Statistics within the School of Mathematics and/or the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA) as a Lecturer in Statistics. The successful candidate will contribute to the University's research-led teaching and management of student education, playing a key role in developing outstanding graduates and scholars.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Statistics and Data Science at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, delivering high-quality learning experiences and assessments.
  • Contribute to the development of online distance-learning postgraduate programmes in statistics and data science, aligning with the University's strategic investment.
  • Participate in curriculum development, ensuring alignment with the Institutional-led Curriculum Redefined principles and practices.
  • Engage in pedagogic research and scholarship, exploring innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and deliver blended learning materials, utilizing technology effectively and innovatively.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent experience in Statistics, Computing, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrable ability to teach Statistics or Data Science, with a strong commitment to student education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong technical skills, with experience in using technology to prepare and deliver blended learning materials.
  • Interest in developing pedagogic research and scholarship, with a willingness to engage in innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
