Job SummaryWe are looking for a dedicated and passionate Academic Support Specialist to provide personalized academic support and guidance to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs). As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you will develop a customized learning plan to meet the specific needs of each student, fostering their independence in learning.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one academic support and guidance to students with SpLDs
- Develop customized learning plans to meet the specific needs of each student
- Support students to develop independence, build on strengths and learning strategies, and create strategies around organization and time management
- Assist students in creating action plans to stay on track with their studies
- Support students in building research skills, widening knowledge by using a variety of sources, and distinguishing appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
- Support students in building comprehension skills within reading and writing
- Membership with one of the following professional bodies: British Dyslexia Association (BDA), Professional Membership The Association of Dyslexia (ADSHE), Dyslexia Guild, or The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)
- Experience of working with clients with specific learning difficulties
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
- Punctuality and reliability
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to manage a caseload of students
