Position Overview
Are you ready to elevate your career in a dynamic hospital pharmacy environment?
We are seeking dedicated and qualified pharmacy technicians, including those on the verge of qualification, who are eager to enhance their clinical skills in a patient-centered capacity. This role offers the chance to engage in various pharmacy settings, including dispensaries and ward-level services.
For candidates at Band 5, an Accredited Checking Technician qualification and experience in Medicines Reconciliation (or progress towards it) are essential. If these qualifications are not yet obtained, you will begin in a Band 4 developmental capacity, receiving support to complete necessary skills and competencies. Previous experience and qualifications will be taken into account.
You will have access to relevant pharmacy training programs, including courses in Medicines Management, leadership, and other professional development opportunities.
To deliver exceptional service to our patients, you must be a collaborative team member, adaptable to change, and aware of the role's boundaries. Effective communication with patients, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team is crucial. You should be able to adhere to written protocols, work under supervision, and complete tasks accurately within specified timeframes.
We encourage inquiries for further information. Department tours can be arranged upon request.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Provide guidance and training to fellow pharmacy department staff.
- Deliver dispensing, counseling, and near-patient services across various dispensaries, including inpatient, oncology, and outpatient settings.
- Serve as an Accredited Checking Technician, performing checking duties within the dispensary and documenting dispensing errors through the appropriate reporting system.
- Engage in clinical work on a rotational basis at ward level, focusing on a patient-centered approach to medication management and taking responsibility for the pharmaceutical care of patients.
- Mitigate medication-related risks and ensure safety in accordance with local and national guidelines.
- Actively support senior pharmacy staff to ensure that all relevant dispensary or ward matters are communicated to the appropriate departmental personnel.
- Have the opportunity to enhance your leadership capabilities by taking on a team leader role.
