Job Title: Employment Advisor for Newground Together

Job Summary:

Newground Together is seeking an experienced Employment Advisor to join our team in the Employment and Skill Lancashire department. As an Employment Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are out of work, inactive in the job market, or facing barriers to employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Employment Services: Assist in the delivery of new and existing projects that progress the organisational objectives in relation to employment.
  • Meet Performance Targets: Work to and achieve set targets, i.e., numbers on non-regulated activity and job outcomes.
  • Client Support: Determine and implement effective approaches to help clients develop confidence, overcome barriers, and achieve successful transitions.
  • Business Engagement: Engage with local businesses and employers to understand their needs and promote our client base and services.
  • Client Recruitment and Retention: Actively recruit clients into employability projects, retain their engagement, and encourage them to participate in workshops, job clubs, and 1:1 sessions to raise aspirations and challenge them emotionally.
  • Training and Development: Identify and harness local, regional, and national initiatives that deliver new opportunities for access to employment and training. Deliver group training to develop participants towards employability.
  • Professional Relationships: Develop working relationships with other professionals working in the field of employment, welfare, and training.

Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving Licence: Possess a full UK driving licence.
  • Relevant Experience or Qualifications: Relevant experience or relevant qualifications, e.g., IAG level 2 or Coaching or Mentoring qualification.
  • Client Work Experience: Experience of working with clients aged 16+ years, supporting them to gain employment or training, or experience of working with clients to help them with progression in their life.
  • Barriers to Employment: Evidence of effectively working with clients who face multiple barriers preventing them from engaging and participating in short and long-term interventions.
  • Business Engagement: Have a proven record in developing contacts and engaging with local businesses to source employment opportunities.
  • Problem-Solving and Case Management: Experience of problem-solving and working on cases until completion, maintaining and managing a varied caseload.
  • Initiative and Performance Targets: Ability to use your own initiative and meet performance targets.
  • Negotiation and Advocacy: Experience of negotiating and advocating successfully one-to-one, by telephone, and in writing, and face-to-face.
