Job Description

Opus People Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Communications and Marketing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing and providing external and internal communications services, including corporate communications, marketing, publications, advertising, and promotional campaigns.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide Corporate Advice and Implementation: Offer expert guidance and support to senior managers, service areas, and elected members on three or more specialist areas of communications, including advertising, campaigns, and evaluation, service marketing management, copywriting, digital design, and internal communications.
  2. Lead Communications Projects: Take a lead in your areas of specialist knowledge, operating across services with minimal supervision and management, and develop new, more efficient, and effective approaches to communications within services and council-wide.
  3. Manage Relations and Budgets: Manage relations with senior managers in directorates, attending meetings and supporting workplans with accurate, reliable, and timely communications initiatives, and ensure that accurate financial and performance information is maintained and reported to directorates/officers.
  4. Develop and Maintain Corporate Visual Identity: Manage and develop the Council's corporate visual identity and design standards for consistency and in support of the Council's 'One Organisation' ethos.
  5. Review and Monitor Advertising Arrangements: Review and monitor the Council's advertising arrangements and contracts for recruitment, statutory, and promotional advertising, and secure tangible improvements in the appearance and effectiveness of the County Council's advertising agency.
Essential Criteria
  1. Relevant Experience: Suitable level of experience in a relevant communications role, with demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the principles of communications and marketing gained through previous work experience or through training.
  2. Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills and able to communicate well with clients from all levels across the organization and interact competently with the staff, members, public, the media, and external agencies.
  3. Technical Skills: Proficiency in IT packages, including Outlook, MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe design packages to an advanced level.
