Position Overview

The Warehouse Operations Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily activities within a warehouse or storage facility, ensuring that all inventory transactions are executed efficiently and on schedule. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising warehouse personnel, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and effective equipment usage.
  • Collaborating with senior management to establish and achieve warehouse objectives.
  • Staying informed about safety compliance and regulations.
  • Facilitating communication with various departments and external stakeholders.
  • Assessing team performance, offering constructive feedback, and implementing training initiatives to enhance efficiency.

To excel as a Warehouse Operations Leader, one must possess strong leadership, organizational, and communication abilities to effectively manage both personnel and operations.

Core Responsibilities
  • Regularly manage and evaluate all facets of warehouse performance (e.g., inventory audits, stock management, shipping, assembly, safety metrics, service quality, and operational costs). Address and rectify any performance deficiencies. Ensure that warehouse tasks are executed accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure that warehouse output aligns with business requirements, maintaining close collaboration with production, planning, and logistics teams.
  • Lead and direct all staff, managing personnel matters such as motivation, delegation, performance evaluations, coaching, recruitment, and identifying training needs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Foster positive working relationships within the organization and with external partners, including customers and suppliers.
  • Maintain constructive relationships with representative bodies (unions, safety committees, etc.).
  • Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene standards within the warehouse teams, operating monitoring systems (e.g., HACCP) as per specifications. Promote cost and quality awareness at all levels.
  • Identify and communicate health and safety requirements, ensuring compliance at all times within the warehouse. Promote safety awareness among all team members.
  • Assist in budget preparation and capital projects as needed. Develop performance benchmarks and encourage a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Identify and manage ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Resolve any emerging issues, escalating them as necessary.
  • Provide support for daily operational needs and challenges as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant management discipline or related experience.
  • Extensive experience in operations, warehouse, or supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with food manufacturing environments is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, such as SAP, is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and manufacturing systems at an intermediate level.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering clear written and verbal reports to various audiences.
  • Customer-focused with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Possess a valid fork truck license for counterbalance and reach truck operations.
