Job Overview

The position of Regional Catering Manager is available, overseeing multiple school trusts in the region.

Working Days: Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week

This role is expected to be temporary, lasting between 3 to 6 months.

Key Responsibilities

The Regional Catering Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight of designated Trust kitchens, including staff management and meal preparation. The focus is on ensuring that all catering teams deliver exceptional service and high-quality meals for students and staff alike.

The role requires regular collaboration with Academy Catering Managers at each school within the Trust, providing support and guidance as needed.

In the event of staff shortages or absences, the Regional Catering Manager may be called upon to assist at any school within the Trust.

Main Duties

Staff Management:

  1. Oversee the management and direction of kitchen staff, contributing to the performance development of Academy Catering Managers.
  2. Maintain high performance standards by identifying training needs and coordinating with Headteachers for staff development.
  3. Ensure effective communication of relevant information through meetings with Academy Catering Managers.
  4. Support schools in adhering to Environmental Health regulations and inspections.

Menu Development:

  1. Plan menus that provide nutritious meals for children while ensuring variety to maintain student interest.
  2. Ensure all menus comply with government nutritional standards.
  3. Prepare and present a fully costed 4-week rotational menu for approval before each term.
  4. Consider dietary needs of students, including special dietary requirements and preferences.

Administration:

  1. Monitor kitchen records, including orders and invoices, to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  2. Ensure all catering staff receive appropriate food safety training and maintain up-to-date records.

Stock Management:

  1. Establish procedures for ordering food supplies and inspecting deliveries.
  2. Conduct monthly stock checks and maintain accurate inventory records.
  3. Regularly review supplier pricing to ensure cost-effective purchasing.

Financial Oversight:

  1. Maintain accurate records of orders and financial transactions for auditing purposes.
  2. Collaborate closely with the Finance Manager to ensure financial integrity.

Equipment Management:

  1. Ensure proper use and maintenance of catering equipment.
  2. Monitor compliance with health and safety standards, including hygiene practices among staff.

Ensuring the health and safety of all staff is paramount, with strict adherence to relevant legislation at all times.
