Senior Staff Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Staff Nurse to join our team in Bodmin Same Day Emergency Care and Clinical Assessment and Treatment Unit (CATU). As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading by example, and contributing to the development of our innovative patient pathway.
As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will be empowered to utilize your skills and expertise to support patients through a clinical admission, assessment, and ongoing treatment. You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to promote effective communication, ensure high-quality care, and drive patient flow in a dynamic setting.
Main Responsibilities- Liaise with members of the multi-professional team to promote effective communication and ensure high-quality care is delivered to patients.
- Take direct referrals to the Same Day Emergency Care and Community Assessment and Treatment units, assessing and treating as appropriate people living with frailty.
- Oversee patient flow in a dynamic setting, supporting people to return to their own homes where possible, working collaboratively with admission avoidance colleagues and community partners.
- Be responsible and accountable for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs of care in this setting.
- Provide leadership, support, and supervision to junior colleagues, acting as a role model in the assessing, planning, implementing, evaluation, and delivery of high-standard individualized care to patients and their carers.
We are an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability. Person Specification- Current professional registration with NMC
- Professional nursing qualification at degree level
- Evidence of current and ongoing professional development
- Staff management and leadership, including HR processes
- Postgraduate qualification in leadership or equivalent experience
- Experienced in successfully implementing change management strategies
- Evidence of active involvement in developing new ways of working
- Competence in cannulation and venepuncture
- Up-to-date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
- Knowledge of and able to implement evidence-based practice
- Ability to administer meds, including transfusion of bloods/products
- Ability to deal with the care of terminally ill and other challenging situations
