Competitive Salary: £29,855.00 per annum
Location: Essex – Flexible across the County
The Children's Society has a rich history of over 140 years dedicated to assisting children and young individuals in need. Our local services are designed to provide essential support during critical times in their lives.
This position is part of our children and families division, which focuses on delivering immediate, tailored support for young individuals facing urgent challenges. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing and evolving our innovative practices within the Essex region.
We are looking to recruit practitioners to join our established team, focusing on assisting young individuals aged 8-25 who are experiencing substance-related challenges.
In this role, you will deliver direct therapeutic interventions to at-risk young individuals and families impacted by substance use.
Support services will encompass one-on-one face-to-face interactions, targeted group sessions, and online assistance throughout the County. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to conduct training sessions regarding substance use for both statutory and voluntary organizations.

Experience in facilitating group sessions and a solid understanding of the relevant issues and legislation affecting young individuals with substance use challenges are essential.
Key Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Proven experience working with vulnerable young individuals in either a professional or voluntary capacity, demonstrating the ability to foster positive relationships and raise awareness about substance use and its implications.
- Experience in conducting individual and group interventions with both young individuals and adults.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and relevant data management systems.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative, multi-agency approach to facilitate effective interventions, including training delivery to various professionals.
- A valid UK driving license and access to personal transportation.
In addition to a commitment to your professional growth, we offer a generous holiday allowance, a contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers, and flexible working arrangements.
The Children's Society operates over 100 local services, positively impacting thousands of young individuals in need of support, while advocating for changes in laws and policies to enhance their well-being and safety.
The Children's Society is dedicated to safeguarding the children and young individuals we serve. Consequently, all positions are subject to a thorough recruitment process, including background checks and vetting procedures. We uphold a range of policies to promote safe working practices across our services.
Candidates applying for roles within our Youth Impact Domain will be required to complete a specific employment history document prior to the interview process.
