Position Overview
The Stock Allocation Specialist is integral to the operational success of the product division at Ralph Lauren. This role involves utilizing specialized IT applications to effectively create and manage both initial and replenishment stock allocations to retail locations. Additionally, the specialist provides essential administrative support to the planning team, which includes generating reports and analyzing sales and inventory data.
Key Responsibilities
Operational and Financial Duties
- Prepare comprehensive packs for trade meetings, encompassing weekly sales and promotional reports.
- Participate in crucial meetings to assess seasonal performance and strategize for future initiatives.
- Collaborate with teams to devise and implement strategies aimed at enhancing sales performance.
- Ensure the financial viability of product lines by strategically allocating stock to meet or surpass sales, gross profit, and inventory turnover objectives.
- Monitor and track inventory levels at Distribution Centers and retail locations to optimize sales-to-stock ratios.
- Oversee the distribution of initial product launches and in-season replenishments to stores.
- Ensure full size availability of top-selling items and seasonal products to maximize sales potential.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to guarantee timely and precise execution of new store openings.
- Assist planning teams with analysis related to stores, products, and sizes.
- Manage store communications through the 'Retail Intelligence' system to address inquiries and communicate promotional updates.
- Utilize systems such as JDA, Microstrategy, Promo MD, and SAP for operational efficiency.
Communication and Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within cross-functional teams, including stores, buying, planning, and marketing.
- Communicate initial release and replenishment strategies across the team.
- Engage in cross-functional meetings, providing insights on distribution and trading strategies.
- Deliver key trading messages to the broader organization.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure information consistency, share best practices, and enhance systems knowledge.
- Manage inventory and replenishment communications with field contacts on a store-by-store basis as necessary.
- Conduct store visits to gain insights into performance and product availability.
- Participate in company initiatives as appropriate.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines effectively.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Able to foster and maintain productive relationships within a team environment.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel, with advanced PC skills.
- Ability to grasp retail mathematics and quickly learn technical applications.
