Job Title: Orthoptist Advanced Paediatric Lead

We are seeking an experienced Orthoptist to join our team as a Band 7 Advanced Paediatric Lead. As a key member of our Paediatric Ophthalmology Team, you will work closely with Orthoptists, Paediatric Ophthalmologists, and Optometrists to provide advanced Orthoptic-led paediatric clinics, including JIA screening. You will also participate in general Orthoptic services, working with adult and paediatric patients at various clinical locations throughout Tayside.

We are looking for an individual with a strong background in Orthoptics, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. In-house training will be provided for the advanced practice role, and the successful candidate will be supported to complete master's-level qualifications in paediatric ophthalmology.

To be successful in this role, you will need a diploma/degree in Orthoptics, significant postgraduate experience, and current HCPC registration. We promote a culture of teamwork and collaboration, recognising the value of a diverse skill mix in delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced Orthoptic-led paediatric clinics, including JIA screening
  • Participate in general Orthoptic services, working with adult and paediatric patients
  • Work closely with the Paediatric Ophthalmology Team to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage with patients and colleagues
  • Contribute to the development of the Orthoptic service, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes
