About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Customer Services Assistant at Rayleigh Library. This is a part-time position working 28 hours per week, including every Saturday.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, supporting with book circulation and issuing, and signposting customers to different services. They will also be required to travel throughout the local area, working at various libraries including Hockley, Rochford, Benfleet, and Wickford.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer queries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Support with book circulation and issuing, ensuring accurate and efficient processing of transactions.
  • Signpost customers to different services, including library resources and external organizations.
  • Travel throughout the local area, working at various libraries and community centers.
  • Assist with promotional activities, generating income and promoting library services.
  • Ensure seamless stock circulation and management, including sorting, shelving, and handling reservations and fines.
  • Contribute to data analysis, identifying trends and areas for improvement to enhance customer experience.
Requirements
  • Possession of a driving license (desirable).
  • Ability to use IT systems, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Customer service experience, with a focus on delivering excellent service.
  • Confidence in communicating with customers, signposting them to relevant services.
  • Enthusiasm and ideas for promoting library services and improving customer experience.
