Position Summary

We are in search of a Senior Platform Software Engineer to architect and implement software solutions aimed at automating both internal and external products and platforms within News Corp. This position is crucial in enhancing operational efficiency by minimizing manual interventions and simplifying technological choices through self-service capabilities, API integrations, and streamlined processes.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to manage multiple tasks, work autonomously, and collaborate effectively with teams located in various geographical regions. This role reports to the Principal Platform Engineer and is an integral part of the Global Platform Engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and sustain intricate software applications ensuring scalability and dependability
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to collect requirements and guarantee successful project execution
  • Produce clean and efficient code in accordance with industry best practices
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of software components to ensure optimal performance
  • Remain informed about emerging technologies and contribute to process enhancements
  • Offer technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
  • Convert business requirements into technical specifications and solutions
  • Contribute to the documentation and design of software
  • Advance skills through ongoing learning and professional growth

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of practical experience in software development
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with Go programming language
  • Strong grasp of software development principles and best practices
  • Understanding of testing methodologies with experience in automated testing
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently in dynamic environments
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies

  • Python, Bash, Go
  • Terraform, Packer, and Infrastructure as Code (IAC) concepts
  • Kubernetes, containerization, and related tools
  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and GitOps
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
  • Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform
  • MELT (Monitoring Events, Logging, Tracing)
