We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic dentist to join our community dental team, providing high-quality oral health care to patients with special needs.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive dental care to patients in dental clinics, hospitals, and domiciliary settings.
- Work with patients with learning difficulties, mental health problems, and challenging behavior, as well as those with complex medical histories and mobility issues.
- Provide preventative care and advice to individual patients and their carers.
- Keep comprehensive records and statistical records, and complete FP17 forms and statistical returns.
- Participate in clinical teaching and supervision of Dental Core Trainees, and assess their performance and complete evaluation reports.
- Direction and supervision of Dental Care Professionals.
- Liaison with hospital and general dental service colleagues, and other health and social services staff to coordinate patient services.
- Application of Trust policies and procedures within delegated responsibility.
- Participation in continuing professional development, including audit and implementation of change.
- Maintenance of professional knowledge and awareness of current dental issues, especially regarding paediatric and special care dentistry.
- Participation in dental audit, clinical governance, and Trust and service training events.
- Adaptation to changes in the service and assistance in implementing such changes.
- Essential:
- Full registration with GDC.
- Experience of providing dental care for children.
- Ability to show considered enthusiasm and innovation skills.
- Effective team player and ability to build good working relationships.
- Desirable:
- Wide range of clinical experience.
- Varied clinical experience in primary and secondary care.
- Experience of working with other agencies.
