Cloud Kubernetes Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Kubernetes Engineer to join our team of outstanding Virtualization platform engineers at ARM. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and supporting our Kubernetes Platform as a Service (KPaaS). This platform empowers our engineers to request Kubernetes clusters that align with their workloads.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deploy and run enterprise-scale Kubernetes clusters hosting distributed application services in a multi-tenant environment.
  • Work proficiently with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud setups, including data center virtualization technologies like VMware, Harvester, or others.
  • Contribute to the Kubernetes Platform as a Service architecture, including the orchestration of pods, services, deployments, stateful sets, networking (CNI plugins, ingress controllers, service meshes), along with expertise in DNS management (both internal and external), load balancing, and the secure integration of certificates and secrets management.
  • Use infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Helm and Terraform to develop reusable IaC modules.
  • Leverage GitLab and Micro-repos to improve development workflows.
  • Design and implement automated pipelines (CI/CD) within the GitOps framework.
  • Implement security standard methodologies, including RBAC, network policies, and pod security policies.
  • Establish robust monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks for Kubernetes clusters.
  • Develop high-quality documentation that brings together design and operational procedures.
Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience in deploying Kubernetes (EKS/GKE/AKS) at enterprise scale in a multi-tenant setup.
  • Familiarity with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments and data center virtualization (VMware, KVM, Harvester, etc.) technologies.
  • Profound knowledge of Kubernetes concepts, networking, DNS, load balancers, and certificates and secrets management.
  • Competence in setting up monitoring, logging, and alerting for Kubernetes clusters.
  • Experience in designing and implementing security standard methodologies for Kubernetes and working with networking tools like Calico/Cilium or Istio service mesh.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certifications.
  • Experience working automated deployment and management EKS clusters.
  • Experience in deploying and supporting distributed systems on Kubernetes.
  • Experience in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and the development of IaC modules.
