About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Composite Design Engineer to join our team at SkyBridge U.K. Ltd. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for spearheading the design and development of primary and secondary composite structures for our cutting-edge aerospace vehicle solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop composite structures for demonstrators, prototypes, and aircraft, leveraging expertise in composite materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Provide technical support to design team members, ensuring the integration of advanced composite technologies into the overall aircraft architecture.
  • Utilize extensive experience in composite design to optimize structures for performance, weight, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including aerodynamics, structural analysis, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of composite components into the overall aircraft design.
  • Implement and refine design methodologies that enhance the manufacturability and scalability of composite components.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in composite materials, manufacturing techniques, and design software to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Document designs, test results, and compliance efforts, and create reports for stakeholders, regulators, and engineering management.

Requirements

  • Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering Master's degree.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the aerospace industry designing primary and/or secondary composite components.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in core disciplines such as design, stress, and fatigue, and damage tolerance.
  • Proficiency in composite 3D modeling with aerospace-grade tools such as Siemens NX, Fibresim, and/or CATIA Composite Workbench.
  • Proficiency in 2D drawing generation for composite components and assemblies.
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing and assembly techniques for composite structures, including tolerance analysis and tolerance stacks.
  • Basic understanding of design-relevant processes driven by EASA Part 21 and FAA regulations.
