About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Credit Control Assistant to join our team at firmus energy. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely recovery of monies from customers who do not pay within payment terms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contact late paying customers to recover outstanding gas payments
  • Highlight bad debt to the Credit Control Lead for further action
  • Negotiate and confirm payment plans with customers and follow up on incoming payments
  • Liaise with the Sales and Account Management teams to obtain their support in managing bad debts
  • Process refunds when appropriate
  • Process domestic credit checks
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Credit Control Lead/Manager

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English & Maths, OR minimum of 1 year experience in a Credit Control role
  • Experience of working in a customer-facing environment
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work on own initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Desired Criteria

  • Familiarity with CRM software and systems
  • Experience within the utilities industry
