Job Summary

The Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Specialist in Psychiatry to join our Mental Health Inpatient and Urgent Care Directorate.

Main Responsibilities

As a Senior Medical Specialist in Psychiatry, you will provide senior medical input to the care and treatment of psychiatric inpatients on Abbey Ward and Greyfriars Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. Your duties will include:

  • Providing clinical input to the care and treatment of patients under the supervision of the ward Consultants.
  • Working with medical colleagues, the wider multidisciplinary team, and the patient's supporting system to support thorough assessment and implementation of robust management plans.
  • Participating in Consultant-led ward rounds, reviewing patients independently, and working with junior medical staff to ensure timely and effective discharge from inpatient care.
  • Supporting the Consultants in their role as the Responsible Clinician for patients under the Mental Health Act.
