Job Title: Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical)

Our client, a leading UK contractor specialising in infrastructure and engineering projects, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) to coordinate all mechanical engineering functions and deliver successful project outcomes.

Purpose of the Role:

The Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) will oversee mechanical engineering functions during both pre- and post-contract phases, ensuring projects meet technical and commercial requirements. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, vetting procurement packages, and overseeing mechanical requirements on and off-site.

Key Accountabilities:
  1. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  2. Vet all procurement packages and oversee mechanical requirements on and off-site.
  3. Oversee the production of mechanical drawings and liaise with other disciplines.
  4. Support the Project Quantity Surveyor and Site Agents on installation and commercial matters.
  5. Monitor productivity and audit labour and materials used in the project.
  6. Conduct factory inspections and quality audits to ensure the highest levels of quality.
  7. Represent the company at internal and external project reviews.
Competency Requirements:
  1. Possess a relevant CSCS card and SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within the water or waste sector.
  3. Technical knowledge of civil, electrical, and mechanical operations.
  4. Experience in pre-production and production project engineering.
  5. Commercial acumen and ability to plan and organise resources.
  6. Proficiency in IT and company software packages.
