Role Overview:

The IT Service Technician plays a crucial role in delivering onsite support for desktop management, asset management, and physical assistance for various IT equipment, including servers, switches, printers, cabling, and video conferencing tools.

Most support from APM Terminals Technology will be conducted remotely, covering software distribution, monitoring, infrastructure services, and patching for desktops and servers. The IT Service Technician will be responsible for those services that necessitate physical presence and will assist remote support teams as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and preparing hardware
  • Providing 2nd and 3rd level desktop and infrastructure support
  • Overseeing problem and incident management
  • Gathering and offering insights for process improvements
  • Acting as a local project coordinator for hardware/software updates and rollouts
  • Supporting additional locations as necessary
  • Ensuring the provision of IT services at the designated location and select remote sites
  • Participating in maintenance windows scheduled outside of regular hours
  • Engaging in on-call support duties as part of the team
  • Updating asset management records
  • Assisting in the TechBar on a rotational basis

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in advanced desktop usage, VPN, Citrix, and mobile devices
  • Knowledgeable in Apple Mac systems and troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of PC setup, including BIOS configuration and connectivity
  • Familiarity with common PC peripherals and their connections
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications
  • Capable of basic mobile device setup
  • Solid grasp of IT infrastructure components
  • Basic server and network troubleshooting abilities
  • Understanding of file and print services
  • Knowledge of Active Directory
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management applications
  • Awareness of change and risk management principles
  • Basic knowledge of audiovisual equipment usage
  • ITIL V3 Foundation Certification is a plus
  • Proficient in Teams video conferencing tools
  • Understanding of WLAN/Wi-Fi technologies
  • Good comprehension of Apple equipment in a corporate setting
