About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Materiality Designer to join our team at General Motors. As a key member of our Advanced Design team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our company's products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop sustainable and responsible CMF processes and content that align with our company's vision and values.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ideate and deliver innovative design solutions that meet our customers' needs.
  • Work closely with internal and external partners to challenge industry conventions and drive design excellence.
  • Use your expertise in 2D and 3D design to create original and innovative designs that meet our company's standards.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of brand and customer insights to inform your design decisions.
  • Conduct in-depth research to contextualize brands beyond present vehicle trends, materials, and existing technology.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure design proposals meet project requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant design discipline, such as Automotive Design, Fashion Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, Interior Design, Graphic Design, or Architecture.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a CMF role, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Highly proficient in 2D rendering capabilities with software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of 3D design surface language and 3D rendering capabilities with software such as VRED, Alias, Blender, Rhino, Grasshopper, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrate out-of-the-box creative thinking, problem-solving, and sound design judgment.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of presentation consideration and graphical layout.
  • Conduct research and develop a professional design process from research and inspiration to design thinking.
  • Develop and maintain a strong digital rendering skills and prototyping with software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, VRED, Blender, etc.
  • Understand concepts of user experience design and how CMF design informs the user journey.
