About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at NELFT North East London Foundation Trust. As a Speech and Language Therapist for Adults with Learning Disabilities, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with complex communication needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, develop, and implement Speech and Language Therapy treatment and management plans for adults with learning disabilities who have communication, eating, and/or swallowing difficulties.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to provide a comprehensive and coordinated service.
  • Supervise pre-registration students and provide clinical support to team members.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with service users, carers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Recognized professional qualification as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Minimum of five years post-qualifying experience as an SLT, including a minimum of three years in learning disability.
  • Experience of working with adults with a wide range of speech, language, and/or communication needs.
  • Ability to deliver training and presentations to other professionals.
  • Experience of assessing swallow function and developing interventions for dysphagia.
  • Knowledge of contemporary health and social care legislation and policy direction.
