Job Summary
White House Care Home is seeking an experienced and skilled Head Chef to lead our culinary team and oversee the preparation and serving of high-quality meals to our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious and delicious meals for our residents, taking into account dietary requirements and preferences.
- Liaise with the Home Manager to develop menus and manage food budgets, ensuring the best use of fresh ingredients and resources.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff members in food preparation, hygiene procedures, and equipment usage, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Conduct regular food safety and hygiene training for all care staff involved in food handling and delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of food supplies, freezer and fridge temperatures, and stock rotation.
- Assist in ordering stocks and checking deliveries, and value stocks as required by the Home Manager.
- Prepare staff rotas for the kitchen and interview new staff members with the Home Manager as needed.
- Ensure statutory Health & Safety standards are met in the kitchen and dining areas, and that all equipment and crockery are cleaned and stored properly.

Requirements
- City & Guilds 706 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Previous management or supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working in a care environment is advantageous but not essential.
