Job Summary:

Plymouth City Council's Sustainable Transport Team is seeking a highly skilled Public Transport Officer to join our team on an 18-month fixed-term contract. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality services and infrastructure that promote the use of public transport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of the Council's successful bid to the Department for Transport's Zero Emission Bus Regional Area 2 Programme.
  • Help deliver the Plymouth Enhanced Bus Partnership's Bus Service Improvement Plan.
  • Account for large sums of money for projects and develop strong working relationships with operators, partners, stakeholders, and neighboring authorities.
  • Support the delivery of the concessionary travel scheme, monitor compliance for a range of contracts managed by the team, assist in providing clear and accessible public transport information for customers, and develop and deliver various public transport-related services, ticketing products, and projects.

Requirements:

  • 5 GCSEs (Grade A*-C/9-4) including Maths and English or equivalent qualifications.
  • A good understanding of current public transport opportunities and challenges both locally and nationally.
  • Experience of using a range of IT-based software and applications.
  • Project management skills for small short-term projects.
  • The ability to undertake on-street monitoring of both services and infrastructure.
