Position Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to assist a 10-year-old child with special needs. This role involves providing essential support to ensure the child's daily care and well-being.

Location: North Herefordshire

Working Hours:

  • Term-time Schedule:
    • Week 1: Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 3:15 PM to 6:30 PM. Saturday from 9:00 AM to Sunday 6:30 PM (includes a sleeping night).
    • Week 2: Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 3:15 PM to 6:30 PM. Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
  • School Holidays: Shifts may start slightly earlier at 9:00 AM depending on the child's needs.
    • Week 1: Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with a sleeping night on Monday.
    • Week 2: Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, including two sleeping nights per week.

Compensation:

  • Weekday daytime hours: £14.50 per hour
  • Weekend daytime hours: £16.00 per hour
  • Weekday sleeping nights: National Living Wage (currently £11.44 for workers aged 21 or over)
  • Weekend sleeping nights: National Living Wage + £1

Driver Requirement: A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.

Essential Experience: Previous experience working with children with special needs and complex medical requirements is necessary.

Desirable Skills: Experience with children who have visual impairments, an interest in therapeutic practices, and familiarity with PEG feeding.

About the Child:

The child, James, has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy, and visual impairment. He requires comprehensive care, including assistance with daily activities such as dressing, bathing, and medication management. Support during hydrotherapy sessions and other recreational activities is also part of the role.
