Position Overview
This role presents a unique opportunity to demonstrate clinical proficiency across various domains. You will be part of a well-coordinated team that includes nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, assistant psychologists, and mental health practitioners. There are avenues for teaching, leadership, and quality improvement initiatives.
Our staff is currently engaging in training for Open Dialogue, a contemporary approach that has already fostered a refreshing shift in perspective for those involved in the Community Mental Health Team. This innovative methodology is anticipated to enhance the well-being of both staff and patients.
Kent, a county rich in rural heritage, boasts a strategic location that is home to numerous significant historical landmarks. Its proximity to London provides an ideal backdrop for personal and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver medical expertise as needed for patients under the care of the Community Mental Health Team, attending Care Programme Approach meetings for high-need patients and providing urgent assessments and guidance as necessary.
- Take a lead role in the evaluation of new referrals to the team, sharing this responsibility with fellow consultants.
- Actively engage in the assessment of service effectiveness and contribute to the planning of future service enhancements.
- Empower the team to address local challenges daily, utilizing quality improvement tools and methods without requiring prior approval.
- Oversee, evaluate, and provide professional mentorship to junior medical staff, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, which may include competency assessments under the Modernising Medical Careers framework.
- Participate in local and broader mental health service planning and business activities.
- Join the Consultant on-call rota, currently structured at 1:30 (non-residential), with remuneration including a 3% category A supplement and additional PA alongside 5 PA sessions.
