We have excellent facilities for experimental work, including approximately 2500m2 of research space and a construction and testing capability up to 5MW.
Project OverviewWe are inviting talented students to develop a real-time digital twin of the fuel-cell electric propulsion system as part of our EU-funded €40M NEWBORN project. The successful candidate will conduct research within a team focusing on innovative electric propulsion systems for future de-carbonised, green aircraft.
Key Responsibilities- Review real-time digital twin technology to understand its recent development for electrical engineering applications.
- Develop a real-time digital twin of the electric propulsion system, including propulsion motors, power converters, fuel cells, and batteries, within the real-time simulation platform.
- Train the developed digital twin using real-time data from available hardware.
- Conduct electrical power level studies with the developed digital twin to identify viable solutions for distributed electric propulsion.
Applicants should have a first-class degree in Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with good electrical engineering knowledge. These posts are open to both UK and non-UK students. We offer full international funding for excellent students.
