About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Area Ranger to join our team at Wicken Fen, a beautiful and wild landscape in the heart of the British countryside. As a key member of our Countryside team, you will play a vital role in managing and conserving this unique and biodiverse site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Rangers, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of conservation and access outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver work programs to meet conservation and access targets, including the management of contractors and volunteers.
  • Lead on compliance, including risk assessments, safety procedures, and environmental management.
  • Engage with visitors to promote the value of our work and inspire a love of nature and the outdoors.
  • Contribute to the development of business ideas to generate income for our countryside sites.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in land, access, and conservation management, including project delivery and team leadership.
  • Strong practical skills, including chainsaw use, tractor driving, and towing trailers.
  • Ability to work safely and lead on compliance.
  • Commitment to nature and the outdoors, with a passion for engaging with visitors.
