About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Planning Team Member to join our established and driven Planning Team in Chester. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting and building our planning consultancy services.

You will work closely with colleagues across our 800-strong business to identify cross-divisional opportunities and develop new client relationships. Your expertise will be utilized to lead on interesting and innovative planning projects, encompassing a varied workload from schemes supporting rural diversification through to changes of use and delivering bespoke residential developments.

This is a permanent, full-time position based on a 37.5-hour week (Monday to Friday). We operate a hybrid working policy, allowing you to design your working day to suit your needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and prioritize your own caseload, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work and service to clients.
  • Prepare initial site reviews and site-specific strategies, delivering bespoke advice to clients.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage planning applications, including reports relating to various projects.
  • Build strong working relationships and project manage other professionals, such as architects, landscape, highways, drainage, and ecology consultants.
  • Engage positively with clients, Planning Officers, members of the public, Councillors, and other statutory bodies.
  • Attend and lead project meetings, negotiating to secure the best possible outcomes for clients.
  • Support team members with advice, sharing workloads, and working on the same projects.
  • Manage budgets, time recording, and invoicing.
Requirements
  • Ideal candidate will be MRTPI qualified or close to submission.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure, planning and meeting deadlines.
  • Good understanding of IT and Microsoft Office.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good understanding of the planning market.
