Role Overview:
As an Academic in Computing Education, you will take on essential responsibilities that contribute to the academic and professional landscape. Your role will encompass:
Leadership in Curriculum Development:
- Guide and mentor colleagues to uphold the highest standards in teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with academic leaders to spearhead initiatives for curriculum enhancement.
Programme Management:
- Lead the development, management, and evaluation of academic programs within your discipline.

Research Engagement:
- Participate in advanced research initiatives, contributing to the academic reputation of ESL.
- Engage actively in university research programs, fostering a culture of innovation.
Quality Assurance:
- Play a key role in the continuous enhancement of teaching and learning standards.
- Contribute to the formulation and execution of quality improvement strategies.
External Collaboration:
- Strengthen partnerships with external stakeholders and industry representatives to enrich the student experience.
- Represent ESL at external events, enhancing the institution's profile.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction across various programs, focusing on foundational courses in your field.
- Provide personalized support to students, guiding them toward achieving their academic objectives.
- Actively engage in course development and improvement, collaborating with faculty and students.
- Facilitate subject-specific sessions aligned with learning outcomes and syllabi.
- Implement assessments as outlined by the assessment team and provide timely feedback.
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential:
- Doctoral qualification in a relevant field (Senior Lecturer only).
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in higher education teaching (Senior Lecturer).
- Master's degree in a relevant subject area (minimum requirement for Lecturer).
- Experience in lecturing similar courses at the higher education level.
- Proficiency in using educational technology platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and implement program development plans.
- Strong communication skills with diverse student populations.
Desirable:
- Teaching qualification such as FHEA or PGCHE.
- High-level communication and presentation abilities.
