About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Kent and Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust. As a Consultant Psychiatrist in Old Age Psychiatry, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients referred to our service, while also providing senior medical leadership as part of our multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric care to patients referred to our service, including holding outpatient clinics, home visits, and conducting reviews in residential and nursing homes.
  • Conduct MCA and MHA assessments, attend complex case discussions, CPA and 117 review meetings, and provide availability for urgent clinical matters.
  • Attend daily RED Board and referral triage meetings, weekly clinical meetings, monthly complex case discussions, and governance meetings.
  • Support the team in maintaining the MSNAP accreditation for their Memory Assessment Service.
  • Liaise closely with referrers, allied professionals, Social Services, carers, voluntary organisations, client groups, and contribute to multi-agency working.

Requirements
  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
  • Full registration with the GMC and inclusion on the Specialist Register.
  • Approved Clinician status and S12 approval under the Mental Health Act.
  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge in Old Age Psychiatry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
