Our Geoscience Team

Venterra Group's Geoscience team is made up of market-leading experts from Ordtek, GDG, and Partrac. We offer unparalleled site characterisation, geoscience management, sediment processes, UXO management, and GIS and data services, tailored to meet the comprehensive needs of our clients.

Role Description

We are seeking a GIS Engineer to join our team in the Geoscience service line, employed by Ordtek and based on-site in our Hethel, Norwich office. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing and presenting geographical and spatial information, providing technical support to bidding and project teams, and assisting the development of our GIS and data resources.

UK Immigration:

Venterra Group is not offering sponsorship for this role under the UK's Skilled Worker visa route. However, we encourage applications from candidates who are eligible for other UK immigration routes that do not require Skilled Worker sponsorship, either now or in the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain GIS projects to support ongoing offshore developments.
  • Create and maintain ArcGIS Online projects.
  • Analise and present data within GIS to support reporting.
  • Generate GIS charting for projects and internal use.
  • Create and maintain GIS data storage structures.
  • Provide technical support to project teams.
  • Provide GIS support to the bidding phase and commercial proposal development.
  • Digitise paper maps into GIS datasets.
  • Ensure quality assurance and consistency of data presentation.
  • Research and innovate digital products to increase internal efficiency and meet industry needs.
Expertise Required
  • Proficiency and demonstrable experience in GIS software applications, particularly Esri ArcGIS Pro.
  • Use of ArcGIS Online Experience Builder or Enterprise.
  • Familiarity with survey mapping and digitising techniques.
  • Skills in Python scripting, programming, and modelling.
  • Proficiency in cartography, map design, and understanding of coordinating systems and projections.
  • Experience in applying GIS to the coastal and marine industries is preferred.
  • Understanding of the offshore energy industry is a plus.
Education/Qualifications and Competencies
  • Degree in Geomatics, Geoscience, Geography, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant field.
  • Masters in Geographical Information Systems, Environmental Science, Geography, or another relevant field preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven experience in managing and ensuring data quality.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
