About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Infection Prevention and Control Lead Nurse to join our team at Oaklands Hospital. As a key member of our infection prevention and control team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct surveillance to identify and monitor infections within the hospital
  • Provide expert advice on infection prevention and control issues and contribute to the development of local procedures
  • Undertake training and education on infection prevention and control topics
  • Attend and provide reports for infection control and clinical governance committees
  • Conduct environmental audits to ensure infection prevention and control standards are met
  • Liaise with department heads on infection prevention and control matters
  • Develop and maintain an environment that ensures patient, visitor, and staff safety
  • Coordinate infection prevention and control activities across the hospital
Requirements
  • Current NMC registration
  • At least 30 credits at level 5 or 6 in modules relevant to infection prevention and control practice or a recognized infection prevention and control qualification
  • A teaching or assessing qualification or equivalent
  • A warm, considerate, and empathetic character
  • A commitment to supporting patients and the team
  • The ability to make decisions and use your own initiative
  • Strong communication skills
