Job Summary:

The Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and products for our client's groundwater monitoring instruments. The ideal candidate will have experience with design for manufacturing principles and be able to create products that meet customer requirements while being mindful of cost targets and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design mechanical components using SolidWorks and various manufacturing methods, including injection molding, CNC, lathe, press, and 3D printing;
  • Analyze tolerances, stress/strain, and statics to ensure product integrity;
  • Develop and maintain engineering and manufacturing documentation, including specification sheets, brochures, and manuals;
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to establish product and design specifications that meet customer and industry requirements;
  • Work closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure the manufacturability of designed components and systems;
  • Redesign mechanical components to reduce material costs and employ additive manufacturing techniques where appropriate;
  • Source COTS components and suppliers as needed;
  • Support production in accelerating new products and identify/resolve any quality issues;
  • Provide technical assistance and design for approved special products.
Requirements:
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree required;
  • 7 to 10 years of industry experience in machinery design;
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM;
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks or equivalent package is preferred;
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in Production and Manufacturing;
  • Broad understanding of electronic/electrical/mechanical system components;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to deadlines;
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
