Impact Assessment Specialist

Connected Places Catapult is seeking an enthusiastic Impact Assessment Specialist to join our Business Case & Impact Assessment Team. As a key member of our team, you will lead a broad range of analyses on the economic, social, and environmental impacts of new technologies across multiple domains, including mobility, the built environment, and decarbonisation.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead economic analysis on a diverse range of subject areas, including the impacts of new innovations on society, the economy, and the environment.
- Design and lead Impact Assessment Work Packages, collaborating across inter-disciplinary project teams.
- Act as a specialist and 'go-to' resource within CPC for impact assessment and analysis.
- Develop new approaches and metrics to impact assessment across a wide range of project types, locations, and subject areas.
- Provide high-quality analysis for partners and stakeholders, using best practice and knowledge of appraisal and impact assessment.
- Undertake data analysis, horizon scanning, logic mapping, roadmap development, and research as required to meet project needs.
- Produce high-quality reports, analysis, graphs, charts, blog posts, and case studies to disseminate findings within the project team or more widely.
- Provide expertise and content support to various projects across the catapult, while supporting the activities of other colleagues.
- Ensure an ethos of equity, inclusivity, and diversity underpins your work activity, contributing to inclusive innovation across all Catapult activities.
- A degree in economics or a related discipline, or significant demonstrable experience.
- In-depth understanding of economic theory and methods to analyse the benefits and impacts of innovation.
- Significant experience of designing and undertaking impact assessments and evaluations across various areas.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, adept at distilling complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand language for internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to use economic models and conduct quantitative analysis.
- Familiar with and have experience of using the UK's 'Green Book' and 'Magenta Book' for project appraisal and evaluation.
- You will be able to present the results of your analyses in high-quality written reports, stakeholder meetings, and online presentations.
