About the Role

The Construction and Safety Manager will provide site-based support to the Project Manager, ensuring high standards of safety and wellbeing, quality, programme, and commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide the first point of contact for project stakeholders, including project advisors and landowners.
  2. Identify risks and opportunities relating to project outcomes and notify the Project Manager.
  3. Feedback on lessons learned during construction, including key supplier performance.
  4. Issue instructions to contractors or consultants on site on behalf of the SPV, except where immediate decisions are required to preserve health and safety.
  5. Assist in the review of contractor document submissions.
  6. Monitor and ensure health and safety compliance by all parties and persons on site.
  7. Undertake health, safety, welfare, and environmental inspections.
  8. Participate in contractor-led initiatives, such as TBTs, Safety Stand-downs, and Emergency Response Planning simulations.
  9. Monitor and report on the project's contractors and their subcontractors' compliance with designs and contracts.
  10. Monitor the quality of works and workmanship by project contractors and their subcontractors.
  11. Monitor the day-to-day interface of project contractors and their subcontractors.
  12. Inspect the quality of items delivered to site as much as reasonably possible.
  13. Ensure major events, such as foundation pours and trial runs, are attended, witnessed, and reported on.
  14. Inspect, witness, and report on testing and commissioning of project components.
  15. Ensure testing and commissioning is carried out as required by and in accordance with contracts.
  16. Assist in assessing commercial/payment applications from project suppliers.
Requirements
  1. Experience and knowledge delivering a similar role on utility scale projects.
  2. Relevant safety qualifications, such as SMSTS, CSCS, IOSH, and relevant engineering discipline qualification.
  3. Flexibility to work additional hours as may be requested.
  4. Ability to work remotely.
