Responsibilities of the Lead Procurement Specialist:
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships, ensuring clear communication regarding daily procurement activities.
- Collaborate with suppliers during the tender review process to guarantee accurate information is provided and optimal solutions are identified.
- Engage with the broader team in supplier selection decisions.
- Conduct thorough reviews of tenders with Procurement/Commercial teams, presenting multiple business cases to deliver the best supply chain solutions.
- Communicate with customers as necessary when making supply chain decisions and support the Procurement and Commercial Manager as needed.
- Escalate unresolved issues to the Procurement Manager.
- Carefully assess RFQ tenders to ensure alignment with organizational and customer expectations.
- Complete quote documentation meticulously to capture accurate pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and other relevant details without hidden costs.
- Review and establish new vendors prior to production order launches, ensuring correct terms are in place.
- Update vendor and pricing information before production order launches to ensure accurate procurement activities.
- Collaborate with the team on any additions to the bill of materials to ensure alignment with customer demand.
- Negotiate cost reductions with current and potential suppliers.
- Ensure pricing and terms are competitive during tender reviews, aligning with business and customer expectations.
- Address and negotiate against supplier cost increases.
- Identify strategies to enhance purchasing power with selected suppliers to achieve better terms and cost reductions.
- Ensure payment terms exceed standard expectations when establishing new vendors.
- Negotiate advantageous terms and rebate agreements for new products when applicable.
- Manage purchase price variance diligently with the commercial team to ensure pricing variations are communicated effectively throughout project statuses.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to foster and maintain productive working relationships.
- Participate in training and team-building activities to promote cross-functional collaboration.
- Support project work as required.
