Role Overview:

We are looking for a proactive and skilled Customs Operations Specialist to become a vital part of our client's committed team. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to grow your career within a supportive and engaged environment as the company continues to expand.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year’s experience in an Import Customs Entry role.
  • Familiarity with systems such as MultiFreight, Destin8, and Chief is preferred.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage all facets of customs clearance entries from initiation to completion for both imports and exports, utilizing various transport modes including Sea, Air, and Road.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all customs clearance declarations.
  • Establish job files for Import LCL, FCL, and Air shipments within the MultiFreight System.
  • Oversee bookings to guarantee that each shipment proceeds as scheduled, coordinating with overseas agents and the internal sales team as necessary.
  • Track ETAs on all created files, providing updates to customers regarding any vessel delays.
  • Request and follow up on releases from carriers to prevent delays for hauliers collecting containers for delivery.
  • Engage directly with customers to arrange delivery bookings and make adjustments as needed.

Candidate Profile:

  • Prior experience in a similar customs role.
  • Strong understanding of customs tariffs and relevant procedures.
  • Knowledgeable about various export/import regimes and transport modes.
  • Experience with deferment accounts and FAS payment systems.
  • Formal training and in-depth knowledge of customs import and export processes.
  • Aware of the implications of incorrect or misleading information in customs declarations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail in documentation and legal requirements interpretation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in communication.
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Self-driven with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications and industry-standard software.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring compliance and timely completion of clearance processes.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: Based on experience.
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday.
  • Holidays: 20 days plus bank holidays, with an additional merit day after two years.
