Position Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable Housing Review Specialist with a strong background in housing regulations and the capability to conduct comprehensive reviews under the Housing Act 1996. The ideal candidate will ensure that all statutory reviews are executed within the required timeframes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough reviews and appeals related to housing register and homelessness decisions, ensuring compliance with established timelines.
- Collaborate with the Legal Department and senior management to address legal challenges, including judicial reviews and appeals.
- Maintain accurate records of complaints and inquiries from Members of Parliament and solicitors, ensuring timely responses.
- Monitor and report on performance metrics related to decision reviews and court cases to senior management.
- Develop and refine procedures, guidelines, and templates for processing housing applications.
- Facilitate regular meetings with legal representatives to ensure effective defense against appeals and compliance with deadlines.
- Review case notes and reports prepared by Case Work Officers, identifying areas for improvement.
- Stay informed on current legislation and case law to ensure high-quality decision-making.
- Coordinate the acquisition of medical reports as necessary for review investigations.
- Exercise discretion in decisions regarding temporary accommodation placements.
Essential Qualifications:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and possess:
- Experience in conducting complex housing inquiries and drafting legally sound decisions.
- In-depth knowledge of housing legislation, including landlord-tenant law, homelessness law, and welfare benefit regulations.
Additional Information:
This position allows for remote work, with occasional requirements to attend meetings as necessary. The role is for an initial period of 3 months.
