Position Overview

This role serves as a vital replacement for an outgoing Consultant Nephrologist within our esteemed organization.

The successful candidate will become part of a growing clinical team during a pivotal phase of the department's evolution. This is a full-time position based on a 10 PA job plan, although we welcome applications from those interested in part-time opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

As a replacement position, the selected candidate will integrate into the current Nephrology Team. The role involves collaboration across both the Urology & Nephrology Directorate and the Adult Medicine Directorate.

The Nephrology and Urology Directorate currently comprises 5 Nephrology Consultants and 1 Renal Specialist. Inpatient services focus on managing patients with acute kidney injury and various chronic renal conditions. A strong partnership exists with the Intensive Care Unit, while outpatient services primarily address the early stages (1 to 4) of chronic kidney disease, with referrals made to specialized facilities for advanced care.

Job Responsibilities

A formal Job Plan will be established between the appointee and their Clinical Director, representing the Medical Director, within three months of the appointment. This plan will be signed by the Clinical Director and will take effect from the start date of the appointment. The initial Job Plan will be collaboratively developed with the Directorate and will undergo annual reviews following the Appraisal Meeting.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Essential

  • GMC Recognized Medical Degree (MBBS or Equivalent).
  • MRCP (UK or Ireland).

Desirable

  • Higher degree (PhD, MD).

Experience

Essential

  • Comprehensive and independent management of clinical patient workload.

Clinical Governance

Essential

  • Active involvement and understanding of Clinical Governance and Clinical Audit.
