Respiratory Administrator/Pathway Coordinator

This role provides administrative, secretarial, and clerical support within the Respiratory Team at North Middlesex University Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for record keeping, managing appointments, and communicating with clients and other services on behalf of the team and clinicians.
Main Responsibilities- Take referrals and messages, ensuring they are logged and passed on to the appropriate clinician in line with indicative urgency.
- Liaise with patients, carers, relatives, Social Services, and other agencies as appropriate, maintaining confidentiality and treating all situations with sensitivity and tact.
- Record referrals and retrieve patient information using the Rio Data Management System.
- Scan referrals and upload them into the patient information system in an accurate and secure manner.
- Administer appointments, receive patients, and contribute to the resolution of problems that may arise with patients or their carers.
- Disseminate information to clinical teams and managers as requested.
- Organize care packages and/or referrals to other agencies under the direction of a senior nurse.
- Produce regular statistical performance information and provide patient information on an ad hoc basis for management as requested.
- Complete monthly sickness and absence information on e-roster as requested.
- Receive visitors and deal with telephone calls as appropriate.
- Provide non-clinical advice to patients, carers, and members of the public.
North Middlesex University Hospital is part of the North Central London integrated care system, working closely with partners and measuring financial and performance objectives at this system level. Requirements- Able to produce evidence of a good basic education, including numeracy and literacy skills.
- NVQ3 in secretarial or office administration or equivalent experience or willingness to work towards this qualification.
- Experience in using appointment systems.
- Clerical experience in an NHS setting.
- Knowledge of working in a medical setting and using medical terminology.
- Use of Rio Data Recording Systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both face-to-face and via telephone.
- Ability to handle patient queries tactfully and respectfully.
- Ability to deal with multiple issues at once and balance conflicting demands.
- Ability to learn new software programs.
- Positive attitude.
- Able to take a self-reflective approach to own practice and engage in clinical supervision.
- Able to diffuse potential conflict or aggressive situations.
